Christmas 2010

Last year, Christmas was pretty awesome.. This year, I didn't think it could be better, but it was...
I laughed so hard, I was a little hoarse the next day.
To be continued.

Lennox and Alley

Getting Lennox to come over my house is so very awesome.

I was a bit leery about how Alley and Lennox were going to interact with one another since I no longer have sweet Penny to play boss.

The last thing I needed was to see Lennox having Alley in his mouth. But ahhhhhhh, have no fear, that is not the case.

The first day, Alley didn't want anything to do with Lennox. She hissed at him if he even thought of coming towards her direction. He had the sweetest look, as if to sy, "Co Thu, I didn't do anything..."
By the second day, Alley was taunting him. If he was asleep on my bed (yes on my bed!) Alley would sneak behind him and sit next to him. (I think she misses Penny)

There was a moment that Alley jumped on the ottoman and scared the heck out of Lennox. Lennox jumped on the sofa and stood on all fours. It was hilarious. I guess you had to be there.

As for my neighbors, they were calling him Butch. Okay, whatever...

Lights Camera Action!

Aaron really was the best in his Christmas program. He was loud and clear.

He is such a modest kid too. This night reminded me of when Amanda did her fifth grade Christmas show. She too had a big part of the show.

When the program was over, I went to mom and dad's house and got rid of the 1970's round light fixture. It didn't bother me except for the fact that it was rusted and could have been a fired hazard (wire issues). I think both parents seem to appreciate it. Dad is pretty handy with the tools. He has a lot of TOOLS, a lot! wow..

Dad said, I was forced to getting the house painted, and now with the new lights...wow, I have a new house...Ahhhhhhhh, shucks...
I left Dad and Mom last night, as they were standing out of the front yard, admiring their house.

Getting to help mom and dad better their home has given me such an appreciation for them. They are too easy going when it comes to their home and so grateful for the visit. Sniff sniff, they are such good people and it's nice having one on one time with the both of them.

Mission Accomplished

Mom and Dad's house is PAINTED!!! Wo-hoo!!!

Dad still went all out to decorate the house with lights.
Dad does it for his grandbabies and I am so thankful that he does. It's
always nice going home to on Christmas Eve to see the "NOEL" sign.

Beautiful weekend.

Wishing Hoping

Things I want for my house.

Only one bench but I can't decide.

I "heart" Dexter

Just found out that my darkside is getting picked up for another Season.
Go Go Go DEXTER!
This season is incredible. I found out that last weeks show had 2.5 million viewers. That's a lot for a cable show.
It may sound weird, but I actually laugh more than get scared. The one liners and quick witted characters are just awesome.

Thanksgiving 2010

I can't pinpoint why, or what made this Thanksgiving so special to me but it was just so nice. Maybe it was all the laughter floating around.

Perhaps it was because there was so little stress. Kept listening to all those talk shows and commercials about how fights break out before the lunch/dinner even starts? Huh? Really? I mean, I guess I could fight with my sisters..

Chi Trang : I could complain and say, Uhhhh you made so many delicious desserts, darn it, it's your fault I am gaining more weight.

Chi Tram: Uhmmmm, why aren't you guys here??? wahhhhhhhhhh

Lisa: Dang, I am spending all my time kissing and loving on the Luke-ster. I can't do anything else.

Mel: Why is your hair prettier then mine? Why are you so chilled and cooler with the nieces?

Chi La: Big deal, you made the turkey and it was goood...Big freaking deal.

Chi Giao: Stop being so nice to me and ...

Hong: Those darn green beans were too perfect and the casserole and the...

Seriously, I thought I would be sad, considering this was the first Holiday without Grandmom. It wasn't so bad because she was still around in spirit. Seeing my Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and my family hanging out together, well, I knew that would make Grandmom smile.

It was almost perfect. Loving Thanksgiving 2010.

Do Ri Mi

Oh deary me....

Read the following from yahoo:

Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now" is one of country's biggest success stories this year--it's a certifiable crossover hit and has won several major awards, most recently Single of the Year at the 2010 Country Music Association awards last week.

Now, with all that said--here's some food for thought. Is the trio's smash single actually a ripoff of an early '80s hit?

That may seem like a far stretch. However, some people are saying so--specifically, people related to the '80s hitmaker in question, Alan Parsons of the Alan Parsons Project. Apparently, fans of the APP have been chattering about the similarities between "Need You Now" and the APP's "Eye In The Sky," a tune that approached the top of the charts back in 1982.

Back to me.
That explains it. Everytime I sing to this song, I have this feeling like I heard it before... I think Lady Antebellum's song is awesome, never-the-less.

Let the music play

Round up the Cowboys

Cowboys and Aliens will be out in theatres next year. But I am getting excited about this movie. I am not too much of a SciFi fan. Hated Star Trek (tv shows) with a passion as a kid. Hated it. But it is growing on me now since I usually catch the last half hour of it on channel 57, the Kube. I do it so I get to watch Twilight Zone. I love the Twilight Zone episodes in black and white. I was too scared to enjoy it as a kid. Now, I like watching it to figure out the twist before they give it to you. I have watched about twenty episodes and I am figuring that Rod Sterling uses the same travel in time theme very often.

Anyways, back to Cowboys and Aliens. yahoo! It's not because of Harrison Ford. I use to be a huge fan of his, even with his wrinkles and all...He hooked up with Calista Flockhart and then decided to divorce his current wife. Harrison, you are ass backwards dude. Errrrr Never thought I was this type of person but...I hated him for that, so lost me as a fan. It's Daniel Craig, all the way. It's like James Bond gone Sci Fi...I'll give it a try...Hope it makes the bucks.

Ta da!

Dad and Mom's guest bathroom got a fresh coat of paint and another floor.
Since this is a high traffic area, we decided that we will not put more vinyl but instead when with slate. It gives it a modern feel and still cool to the touch. Better yet, easy to keep clean.

It's not complete yet, the toilet is not in place but the majority of the work is done.
All we are waiting for is the grouting, re-caulking,new hardware & shower curtain. That will finish up this project... but it will have to wait till this weekend.

Back to the Drawing Board

I purchased a vanity top for a steal...But it's not a great steal if it's not the right size.
Bummer!
Gotta go return it and shop some more!

Lost and Found

I thought I lost the picture of the rocker but it was recovered from my computer today...What a relief. Here's the proof of how F-ugly this rocker was before the Face-lift/paint job.

Buddies

I LUV it that I have something in common with Austin-Boston....
We both enjoy a little head game from time to time. When I watch it, one of the character reminds me of Austin. No, not him, him!

American Graffiti

I am wondering if this is considered graffiti.

Anyways more pictures of getting the house in order for mom and dad.

Look at Mom watching.

Luke walking to his Super grand-daddy.

Correction: I think it is called pressure washed, not power washed ;-)

Rock & Roll

Another Before and After project

Craigslist:
Nasty old rocker $30

When I got there, it was really gross. The nice lady probably saw my disgusted face. Her picture did not depict the true grossness of it. She let me walk away only having to pay $25.00, Yea haw. (Geez, how did I get so cheap?)

I cannot locate my before picture of the chair ;-(

Onced refurbished, with a lil power wash and a white coat of paint...

Priceless

Having A Blast

This weekend, okay only Saturday because MOM will NOT let us work on the house on Sundays, was the first part of getting Mom and Dad's house ready for the big paint job that will eventually take place.

Anh Vinny and Chi Trang was so awesome to provide us with the POWER-Washer machine thingy.

The house got washed but we decided to keep going and the driveway, pink chairs, patio set, the lil yellow tike car and a few other things got a new face lift as well. (Vinny that gadget is soooo awesome!)

Mom and Dad's house needs a little more tender loving care then I thought but we will have to replace some wood and do more maintenance to prevent leaks. Just a little more time consuming but its got to be done.

It was a lovely day and we wrapped things up but in the early evening.

PS Oh, don't worry we didn't make dad do all the work ;-) but he really enjoyed going at the dirty pavement & Mom hooked me up with so much SHRIMP because I helped. OMG so good!

The Three Musketeers

Maddie, Adam and Aaron were at Grandmom and Granddad's on Saturday. It's nice to hear the laughter of these kids. Very infectious. Dad cou;dn't stop grinning cuz the kids were playing washers, in the backyard. I am impress that dad made that square thingy for them and the big kids to play.

Got to see Maddie in her Superstar red and white stars sock. Cool Maddie, way cool.
Didn't get to talk to Aaron and Adam too much because they were too busy playing.
It was a great visit and I wished I took pictures.

Update: I took a picture of the washer game that dad made for the kids and grown ups.

No More Ceiling Fan

Yes, it's probably unorthodox to have a chandelier in a guest bedroom, but I say, why not? So out went the ceiling fan and in went a re-conditioned chandelier. I had this chandelier sitting in my garage, collecting dust and I decided I wanted to play "decorator."
It's suppose to be a powdered blue shade but it doesn't photograph very well.
But I love the calm & romantic feeling it gives the room.

Painted the lamp to match. Old vs. New.

(I hope I didn't update ya'll on this already...)

Boys will be Boys

Okay, I love this picture.
When I babysat Lennox, he scared the bee-je-sus out of all my neighbors.

Little do they know he is a pussy cat.
Look at Hayden all over him.

When do I get to baby sit them again???

Hate the Kitchen

It was so ugly, the roaches moved to another location..

This is the kitchen before it was worked on...The stove is new but...still has a lot of work to be done. At least now I don't feel like I was sticking to the floors.

Oh, look at the fantastic wallpaper...and missing cabinets...
Previous owners were foreclosed on and they went nuts on this house.
The stick on tiles, puke-o-rama!

The kitchen was the first thing that had to be re-novated but only on the things that needed immediated attention. It's still my least favorite room, until I finish it. But the master bathroom is the next project.
Looking on the bright side, it's not as gross anymore.

To be continued

Disregard the date on the camera, the date is not correct.

Silly Me

I got really excited that someone from the UK actually spent their own sweet time and read my blog? Okay, even if it was to defend Simon Baker (I can see Mel cringing). I youtubed the dude and when he interviews, he does come out to be a funny guy. So, maybe I stand corrected. Maybe he isn't that cocky. But how cool to see that I invoked some random person's emotion and they commented on one of my ramblings.

Kinda cool...

Amber

I think my niece is dodging my calls. I was nagging her to blog, since her parents are not doing it for the family. Then it clicked to me, when is her homecoming? Gotta get her a mum for homecoming. I called again and again. Darn voicemail.

Then I saw her post on her blog. That girl...She is something else. I would imagine that coming from Madison. hahaha

I love this picture of Amber. She's our next Volleyball superstar!

Anyways, still need to know when is Dobie's Homecoming.

Viggo, just because

Because he still is number 1 on my list. hee hee

He was the young Amish guy in the Harrison Ford movie witness, the asshole LT. in Demi Moore's G.I Jane, acted with Nicole Kidman in Portrait of a Lady and of course the awesome King in Lord of the Rings.
